Mastering Mass Communication

A Teacher's Guide to the Edlio App

Welcome to Your Communication Hub

This guide is designed to empower you with the skills to effectively communicate with students and their families using the Edlio Mass Communication tool. This system is a powerful feature within our school app that allows you to send important updates via text, email, and voice message, all from one place.

By mastering this tool, you can share classroom news, send reminders, and foster stronger home-school connections. This interactive guide will walk you through each step of the process, from logging in to tracking your sent messages. You can follow along in order or use the navigation to jump to the section you need.

Training Time at a Glance

This chart visualizes the estimated time for each part of the training, totaling about 15-20 minutes. It gives you a sense of the workflow and helps you pace your learning. Hover over any bar to see the specific time allocation for that step.

Step 1: Access the System

Your first step is to log into the Edlio portal. This is your gateway to all communication tools. Ensure you have your credentials ready and follow secure login practices by not sharing your password.

Login Process

  1. Navigate to the Edlio administration portal login at bootom of website.
  2. Sign in with google SSO.
  3. Once logged in, locate the "Mass Communication" or "Messaging" section on your mobile app dashboard.

Step 2: Compose a Message

This is where you'll craft your communication. Edlio offers three primary ways to reach families. Use the tabs below to learn how to compose each type of message. The key is to choose the right format for your content—short and urgent for texts, detailed for emails, and impactful for voice calls.

Composing an Email

Ideal for longer messages, detailed information, and attachments.

  • Subject Line: Keep it clear and concise to improve open rates.
  • Body: Write your message. Use formatting like bolding or lists to improve readability.
  • Attachments: Add documents, photos, or links as needed.

Step 3: Select Your Audience

Targeting your message ensures it reaches the right people without spamming others. For most of your communications, you'll be sending messages to your own class roster. Always double-check your recipient list before moving to the next step.

Recipient Options

  • Pre-defined Groups: The easiest way. Select your class roster, a grade level, or other groups.
  • Individual Contacts: Search for and select specific parents or guardians.
  • Excluding Recipients: Remove individuals from a group list for a specific message.

Pro Tip

Before sending, quickly scan the number of recipients to confirm it matches your expectation (e.g., the number of students in your class).

Step 4: Send or Schedule

You have full control over when your message is delivered. You can send it immediately for urgent news or schedule it for a future date and time, which is perfect for planning reminders ahead of time.

Send Now

For immediate delivery. Always give your message one final proofread before clicking the "Send" button!

Schedule for Later

Set a specific date and time for delivery. Excellent for sending homework reminders or event announcements in advance.

Step 5: Review & Track

After sending a message, it's important to know if it was successfully delivered. The system provides a history and delivery reports to help you track your communication and identify any potential issues.

Sent Messages Log

Find a complete history of all messages you've sent. This is your communication archive.

Delivery Reports

Check the status of each message (e.g., delivered, failed, opened for emails). This helps you ensure your messages are being received and allows you to follow up if needed.

Tips for Effective Communication

Following these best practices will make your communications more professional, effective, and appreciated by families.

  • Be Concise: Get to the point quickly, especially for text messages.
  • Be Clear: Avoid jargon. State the purpose of your message upfront.
  • Proofread: Always check for typos and clarity before sending.
  • Include a Call to Action: Clearly state what you want recipients to do (e.g., "Please sign and return the form by Friday").
  • Respect Preferences: Be mindful of message frequency and timing.
