I have read and agree to follow all of the safety rules set forth in the procedures and in this contract. I realize that I must obey these rules to ensure my own safety, and that of my fellow students and instructors. I will cooperate to the fullest extent with my instructor and fellow students to maintain a safe classroom. I will also closely follow the oral and written instructions provided by the instructor. I am aware that any violation of this safety contract that results in unsafe conduct or misbehavior on my part, may result in being removed, detention, receiving a failing grade, and/or dismissal from the course.
Parent / Guardian:
I am looking forward to teaching your child this year. With your encouragement, your child will be a part of many exciting and rewarding experiences this academic year. Since lifelong success depends in part on self-discipline, I have developed a Classroom Discipline Plan which affords every student guidance in making good decisions about their behavior and an opportunity to learn in a positive, nurturing class environment. Your child deserves the most positive educational climate possible for his/her growth, and I know that together we will make a difference in this process. We feel that you should be informed regarding the school's effort to create and maintain a good and safe classroom environment. With the cooperation of the instructors, parents, and students, we can eliminate, prevent and correct possible situations and hazards.
Classroom Rules:
- State law: Cell phones must be turned off and stored away.
- Be respectful, prepared, responsible, positive.
- Pay attention in class and participate in class activities. Use your time wisely. Follow the Volume and Movement expectations.
- Follow directions the first time they are given without question. This will help make a good and safe learning environment.
Volume and Movement Expectations:
- If I am talking in a lecture, no one else is to talk unless they are called on, and not move around the classroom except for charging chrome books.
- I encourage questions relevant to the problem we are on. I can press pause and explain in more detail, or help individually. Example problems are done by the teacher or students. Students can work together on homework but not quizzes or tests. Ask questions during class, and come in for tutoring for more individual help and attention.
- If I am helping another student or playing an instructional video, students may get supplies such as extra paper or writing utensils.
Lesson Schedule:
- Intro. with Wheel / Lesson Objectives / Questions

Grading Policy
Tests 50%, Quizzes 30%, Homework 20%. Tests and Quizzes are an independent assessment of your knowledge and understanding of the unit. I cannot help you answer any quiz or test questions. Make sure you are rounding to the right number of decimal places and are in the correct mode depending on the question (degree or radian).
In regular Geometry and Algebra 2, to encourage good attendance and being involved in class, there are weekly classroom Participation grades. It's 10 points per day for attendance and 10 points per day based on Informal Assessments (seeing progress on homework and problem discussions). These cannot be made up unless it's an excused absence.
Homework - There is mathxlforschool homework (sometimes includes Homework Help, View an Example and Help Me Solve This) and Google Form Reminders and assignments. For all classes, due dates for homework are set to end of class period the last day, not midnight. There is an automatic late penalty on homeworks and C4U with the setting Deduct late submission penalty from final score 30 percent. Apply only to questions scored after the due date.
There may also be Reinforcement homework with a limited number of attempts. Before a test and at other times, there is a C4U quiz (Check for Understanding), and an optional extra credit Math XL review (make at least 80 for 3 extra points). Reviews are due before the class periods that the test starts. The Reinforcements are extra credit for regular Geometry, and are homework for Honors.
Exit tickets Wednesdays on paper!
You will have 1 math xl problem on paper to do for that Math XL assignment / lesson. It must be done during class and is given in the beginning of class. I will collect all your exit tickets and that is a Quiz grade. There will be 5 before the grade is entered (comments are entered for each).

Note Check Friday!
Notes grade is a Quiz grade. You cannot decide to drop your notes grade. It's based on your handwritten notes of problems on the worksheet or spiral from the PDF, or if you have an accommodation then on your playlist content watched from the Chapter Playlist in Edpuzzle. You are given printed notes and an example worksheet with answers. You can follow along in the video with the explanation or go faster or slower using the PDF. You can also ask questions in class or during tutoring, and take extra notes in your composition book or spiral, or write extra examples on your worksheets. When asking questions, make them worthy for everyone or ask in private.
During tests, the example PDF's may be disabled so prepare to use paper notes if needed (Geometry classes and Algebra 2).
In-person tutoring is recommended once a week for students not making a B or better and is encouraged for anyone. Tutoring is required if failing at the progress report time, if a student failed a 6 weeks, or has 3 or more missing assignments. Also Saturday school may be assigned.
One of the differences between Honors classes and Regular classes, is that Honors classes are more student-led, and you are expected to be even more responsible. Also tests could be harder, and there could be a certain number of attempts allowed on homeworks, instead of unlimited attempts on Math XL homework.
Parents are the key to making homework a positive experience for their children. Therefore, I ask that you make homework a top priority at home, provide necessary supplies and a quiet homework environment, set aside a time every day when homework should be done, provide praise and support, do not allow your child to avoid doing homework, and contact me if you notice a problem at [email protected]
Retest / Redo Information (no corrections in math)
Must complete the retest by a week after the original due date
Scheduled Retest dates are on Tuesdays. Other times by appointment.
See the Test Retakes Grades page for the maximum grade you can make on a retake (For example maximum grade retake is 85 from original 70, 70 from original 40 or below). Think 100 - 70 = 30. Half of 30 is 15 so 70 + 15.
Cheating consequence on tests is a 0 for the test and no makeup allowed. This is approved by the Principal and Athletic Director.
Missing Work
Makeup work due to excused absences and school activities according to school policy. See Google Classroom and mathxlforschool first. Get example paper copies of the notes from the tray or ask.
30 points off for late work. Math XL and other assignments are due a certain day, and you can make up to a 70 until 1 week after that. I will hide the assignment at the appropriate time and it will not be available after that.
